I have a hard time reaching my mutes for a quick mute change if they are on the floor.

And, I once saw the entire trumpet section of the U.S. Coast Guard band with a red dot in their crotch, as they quickly removed the standard Humes and Berg red and white cup mutes from their trumpet bells and stuck them between their legs.  An amusing sight to a young trumpeter to be sure.

There are many other good mute holders out there, so why in the world make my own?...
